The Desk Team, keeping things on track

April 2021 & May 2021

Dear Leaside Community,

The 132nd Toronto Scout Group’s Garden Products Fundraising Campaign is officially closed.

The Garden Product Team extends A Big Thank You to our Leaside Customers for the continued support shown this year by placing your garden orders online through the Shopify website. The Garden Products Campaign was a great success!

Our Garden Team planned ahead to make sure the health and safety government protocols were in place at the Leaside High School parking lot before customers arrived. Each customer arrived at pre-arranged times, wearing their face masks, and staying in their vehicles to pick up their soil bags. Volunteers, who also wore masks, were at the ready to load up those orders when the customers arrived. (Photos at 132nd.com)

Mother Nature provided a great day of sunshine for both customers who came to pick up their soil bags, as well as the volunteer teams who were making deliveries of the soil bags to customers in the neighbourhood who could not come and pick up.

Covid restrictions have meant we are unable to run our annual Tree Planting project. So this year, the 132nd Scout Group donated the 2 pallets of soil bags to the Todmorden Mills Wildflower Preserve, run by local resident Paula Davies and her gardening team. The gardening team, working socially distant, is always working to improve the soil conditions at the Mill, and appreciated the soil donations.

A belated Thank You to the Leaside Community Customers who supported the 132nd Scouts Christmas Tree Fundraiser in early December of 2020, held at the Leaside Presbyterian Church parking lot.

This was the first fundraiser planned during the Covid-19 Pandemic, following strict safety and health protocols set by the government and by the volunteer Scouters and parents. With pre-arranged online Christmas Tree orders, customers arrived at the church parking lot, at their time slot, and picked up their tree.

The 132nd Toronto Scout Group Sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, continue to stay actively involved with weekly online zoom meetings, as well as participating in Scout Canada’s online scouting challenges. These creative learning activities help to keep a positive outlook for the youth by connecting with their scouting friends online, with hopes that one day soon everyone will once again enjoy the great outdoors of scouting.

Thank You for your continued support
